Pupils at Ss Peter & Paul collect coats to donate to less fortunate

Children at Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Primary School launched a Coats for Christmas appeal to help struggling families and individuals this winter.

The school are collecting good quality coats for adults and children until the end of January. These will be donated to Walsgrave Baptist Church and the local foodbank.

The learning mentor at Ss Peter & Paul, Stephanie Gordon, said “The children wanted to do something to make a difference in their community this Christmas, so came up with the idea of collecting coats for those in need. We have a very strong focus on social action at the school, and all of the children have been really enthusiastic about the campaign and helping those less fortunate than themselves. It is also a good educational initiative as we have been able to teach the children more about local issues affecting our community. We have already received lots of donations from parents and staff, but we would now like to hear from members of the wider community who may also be able to lend their support. Everyone who makes a donation can be sure that the coats will be going to homes this winter.”

Donations are welcomed at the school reception on Arkle Drive, Walsgrave, Coventry.
